Quitting Paramotoring After ALMOST Dying
It’s been 2 month since my horrific paramotor crash that almost killed me, and it's with a heavy heart that I announce that it’s unlikely that I will return to paramotoring. And contrary to what many people have commented in the crash video, I am not creating content for likes. If that were the case, I wouldn’t make my opening sentence the juiciest thing in whole video. I would have dragged it out to work the whole UA-cam algorithm thingy. For the past 7 years, I have been making video’s for my channel because I love flying powered paragliders and making videos.
TIMESTAMPS:
00:00 - I am Quitting Paramotoring
01:02 - My Dad Was A Secret Agent
02:18 - How I Got Started Making Videos
03:18 - What It's Like Being In A Wheelchair
04:00 - Experiencing Combat At 19 Years Old
06:00 - Filming Stories of Soldiers Killed In Action
06:36 - Honorably Kicked Out Of The Army (Due to Wounds)
07:21 - The GREATEST Thing To Do With A Paramotor
07:53 - My Hope To Inspire & Educate
08:28 - The Future of My UA-cam Channel (Video Podcast)
09:07 - My Wife's Experience With My Paramotor Crash
10:00 - Play Along!!! The FUN Idea Where YOU Come Up With My Intro
11:08 - Outro
I’ve always made video’s for the love of making videos. And paramotoring has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Why would I want to keep all of that awesomeness to myself when it might motivate someone like you to learn to do it for yourself? Or if you already do it, then you can learn from my mistakes.
Where was I? Right. It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that it’s unlikely that I will fly again. Medically, I have done absolutely amazing, and I credit that to the incredible doctors, nurses-especially the one who had to clean my ass. You know I talking about you-therapists, hospital staff, and more. I’m especially grateful to anyone who’s prayed for me or wished me well. And of course, to my family and friends, you mean the world to me.
Aside from my recovery, I’ve been working really hard on my awesome new video podcast that you’ll be able to watch right here on my channel. As some of you know, I’ve been hosting the most listened to podcast on paramotoring, called The Paramotor Podcast, but this time, it will be on whatever interests me, which, lucky for you, is only really fun and interesting things that’ll only occasionally have to do with paramotoring. But come on, you’re here to hang out with me anyways.
Before closing out, I’d like to try something new, and pay close attention to this, because I will never mention it again. I want you to come up with the how I should introduce myself in next video down in the comments. The only requirement is that it starts with “Im Anthony Vella, and…” and the rest is up to you! I’ll choose one from the comment section of every video, including this one, and introduce myself in the next video using one that my wife chooses.
Have fun coming up with my intro, and I will see you next week with more updates on my recovery, the upcoming podcast, and another side story.

The instant Lee passed away in that crash, a switch within me that, I didn’t even know I had, was switched on and I can’t seem to switch it off: Autopilot. I imagine that word just got Lee’s attention. I’ll take it. I want him to know how I feel. But this isn’t the sort of autopilot that Lee would have loved to have in his plane; Rather, it’s the sort that allowed me to get back on the ground w...

How to TAKEOFF on a Paramotor
Переглядів 10 тис.9 місяців тому
Here are the steps to takeoff on a paramotor! 1) Identify wind direction 2) Layout paraglider symmetrically so that it rises in direction of the wind Here is where you'll REALLY make a difference! 3) Start your run strong (notice that I didn't say fast)! Keep tension on the lines as the glider rises into the air. FOLLOW the path your intended to follow UNLESS you notice the wing starting to tip...

You cannot fly again. You have children, they almost lost you man. They need their father, just as you spoke about their importance, please don't forget your importance to them. They will only ever have one father, and that's you. Rest up, and remember, you've got many accomplishments left to achieve in this life. Don't punch that ticket until it's truly your time, my friend.

I've never fully broken my back...but I've had a compression fracture in the back and have dealt with a series of back and spine issues and that type of pain will make you scream in pain at times .....but this fall.....I just can't imagine.....the fear and the will to do anything under that kind of pain is another level of pain. As awful as it was...the Good Lord was looking out for him. That type of pain just makes it so hard to speak.....and it just takes your breath away....hence that awful time just not not knowing how bad it is

People commenting on how is he was screaming in agony after he hit. Joking about it. This man had an open fracture, a piece of his bones from his arm litterally shot out of his arm after the impact. He fractured his neck, vertebrae and his pelvis. To be fucking fair, i think this man took it like a fucking tank. Most of us would have probably passed out. I once ended up in the Hospital with Spontaneous Pneumothorax collapsed lung. It was so bad, that it started compressing my heart. Upon arriving in the ER my blood pressure was 40/60. Since i didn't like needles, i refused the IV line in the ambulance. I still tried refusing in the ER because my fear was greater for a fucking needle then it was for dying. They said "If we don't do it now, you will crash within 30, minutes" Once they put the IV in, they went straight for the Fentanyl and Ketamine to get the drain in from the side of my ribcage. For me, i did feel pain, it hurt bad. After the lung surgery it hurt bad too. But man, the shit you went through is unfucking believable. I'm sure you took it like a champ because you've been through the suck it the fuck up mentality in the Army. Best of luck brother

3:32 there is whole below the pause for inspection small but could have gotten bigger or be just enough to lose the captured air Also this is really and I mean really out landish that hole could have been caused by A. a blade of grass or B. a mosquito Now let’s look A at the blade of grass it is still unlikely because of pressure distribution because there are so many blades of grass the pressure is evenly distributed but becuse of the ropes that added weight could have of set it causing a puncture still not very likely And after that there is B very unlikely almost impossible but it still COULD happen. Because of the mosquitoes 🦟 barbed nozzles? I guess it COULD have punctured or teared or ripped a hole in the glider. The key word in all of this is COULD So after all that’s just a theory a MOSQUITO THEORY see you next time on outlandish comments ;)
